Meet the woman that the responsible for the wrongful conviction of 20,000 people
Annie Dookhan was a lab chemist working with prosecutors to run drug test on lab samples from suspects. But to boost her job performance ans stand out, she started adding illegal drugs to lab samples and it took at least 8 years before she was caught
Marthat Coakley who is the attorney general of Massachusetts in her speech says "Her actions totally turns the system on its head". Annie's only explanation for the actions was her drive to be the best. But she never considered the consequences.
Carl Williams who is a staff attorney for the ACLU says "When we talk about the tens of thousands of cases, this is really made up of individuals. And each one of the well over 20,000 individuals has their own story and is hurt by the collateral, the community based consequences of these convictions. And some those people have waited over ten years.
Already, hundreds of wrongful convictions have been overturned. While many others are under review. But most of the victims won't ever reclaim their normal lives.

"I've lost numerous family members. I was not allowed to go to the funerals while I was incarcerated, my blood brother and my uncles and my step father. The punishment was greater than anything you can ever think of. My education, since it was a drug crime, its going to stop my Pell grants, my federal, my FFA. I'm trying to get back in college, it affected the definitely.I cant get a decent job paying good money to survive".
Annie served three years of her sentence and she was released on parole in 2016 and she is living quietly avoiding any public statement.
